A. General Objective: To Enhance Knowledge and Skills in Pedia Ward B. Specific Objective: a. To Render Care to the Pt. b. To Be Able To Give Proper Medication On Time c. To Get v/s at 10am & 2pm
II. Observations:
a. Self: I Was Quite Nervous Because Pedia Patient's Are Difficult to Handle Compare To The Other Rotations. b. Groupmates: They Are Jolly And Fun To Be With. c. C.I.: Our C.I. Is Kind And Approachable.
III. Learnings: I Learned How To Discharge a Pt. and to Carry out Dr.'s Order and Most Of All How to Establish Rapport to my pt. & S.O.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To obtain clinical experiences about ideal nursing practices at Pedia Ward in able to become a competent student nurse
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
* To know the basic rules and regulation at Pedia since it is more different from the other ward rotation * to obtain knowledge on usual nursing routine and to master it * to provide necessary actions suitable to the patient's problems * to take vital signs in appropriate manner * to do documentations properly * to be oriented from the Pedia set-up and the basic nursing routine * to apply appropriate behavior in establishing rapport to the clients including their S.O. * to gain trust and cooperation from the client * to assess the client logically and to formulate nursing diagnosis appropriate from the finding i have gathered
OBSERVATIONS
MYSELF: On the first day, we had our orientation about the rules and regulations at Pedia Ward and the things we should remember when we are finally exposed to it. We also had our review on carrying doctor's order, drug computations, and how to discharge a patient. It was really a sleepy day for all of us. we had given a chance to take just a moment of nap to refresh ourselves and set-up our minds. During our second day, it was a shocking experience to be at Pedia Ward. Honestly, I was able to say "OMG" because asside from doing the nursing routine, we have to accomplish a case abstract comprising patient's profile, patient history of illness, P.E., and the Gordon's 11 Functional Patterns. Another burden was, we have to do charting. I believed that our C.I. gave these tasks simultaneously just to evaluate our patience , level of capacity and our dedication to nursing. All of these are part of the test that we need to surpass and we should stand as one of the survivors. On our last day, there was a big change compared yesterday, we worked very smoothly. I think the prophylaxis of yesterday is now working at this moment.
GROUPMATES: Some of them were toxic but some were working confidently. they are doing their work respectively. Because of not addressing to Mr. or Ms. when we call each other, most of the time we gathered punishment through demerits. they have sense of humor and easy to be with.
CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR: She is so smart. She guides us from what we are going to do and instruct the ideal and proper way of giving nursing actions so that we became a competent health care provider. She scolded us sometimes when we commit mistakes because of our naughtiness. She wants us to gain our discipline, give respect for each other and the rigth conduct to act as a nurse.
LEARNING
* Before you end up everything, you must assure that all things should accomplish accordingly, properly and completely. * I learned the proper way on how to discharge a patient since it was my first time to do it. * I have incorporated Choramphenicol to a 10 cc. of sterile water in order that irritation will be alleviated. * I have done some referral to the doctor. * I did carry the doctor's order properly. * I learned that in a prescription card, maximum of 3 drugs should be listed and should not to exceed on that. * I have updated the Kardex of my patient. * I learned that some of the patient are so sensitive and hard to get their cooperation but it is our responsibility to gain their trust in whatever way we must prefer.

I walk through those doors with pride, Who's life will i save today? Someone is waiting for me, Someone is alive today because of my duty. Sometimes we cry cause we can't save them all, God sometimes won't let us interfere when HE calls. A baby's first breath when he looks at me, The joy of my first delivery. The tear i wipe a way with my own hands, The life ending of a gentle old man. The night seems so dark and the morning so bright. Being a nurse you see life in a different light. Who will i save tonight? Who will hold my hand during their last breath with no fright? Who will enter this world on my shift? How many mothers will greet their babies with a kiss? I don't know who these special people are but i will meet them with every call I will hold them tight and help the pain I will hold them up when they feel faint. I will be strong when i am needed That is my job, I am a nurse..that is my duty.
