Lessons learned

Most often, we judge people by how we see them, by what others tell about them and by our personal experiences with them. Lots were said pertaining to judgement of characters and one is liable to believe the bad things rather than the good things about people. Tag lines are labeled... She is like this, she is like that... and so on... so without bothering to know that person, you make your judgement.

Such thing happens everyday. Falling out of relationships between families, friends and lovers... its a normal occurence in this complex world of ours. though one is inclined to believe otherwise, the actual events lead to one way or another, and booommm... emotions explode.

The reputation of one person or one group most often determines how people react to them, how we treat them and how we relate with them. Though most often, our instincts tell us to give them a chance, still an inner voice tells us not to do so.

Like what happened recently. Its a fact that i have student friends.. though these students knew and respect my being an instructor to them, still arguments, misunderstanding is normal, right? Personally, i was really offended by the complaints which reach my ear. and i gave attention to it immediately..

As ive said earlier, judgements are made based on the events that occur, when they occur, how they occur and to whom they occur.

Well, there is still that invisible line that separates us, clinical instructors from you students/...
though most of you are mature enough, you have families, children, still we cannot avoid the fact that you symphatize with your classmates.. and that's fine...

Just a word of advice though.... before you complain, make sure that you have your facts right... try to find out if the thing that you want to complain really exist, or its just hearsay... always look at both sides... you wouldn't want to be in my shoes anyway... this is how a mature person behaves...

well lessons learned... Block B and the Ci's survived and surpassed the two weeks of affiliation amiably... there were unavoidable circumstances.. well, again, that is another thought to ponder...

to end this blog, we all learn from our mistakes. These are life's lessons. these matters make us mature.. and prepare us to become better nurses... nurses who are committed to take care of people an dnot animals... nurses who are expected to treat each situation objectively and react without personal intentions... nurses who think rationally and observes keenly, in short..

NURSES WHO LOOK BEFORE SHE LEAPS...

well, au revoir, Block B....

it was a learning experience for me and for the 3 other CI's...

Hopefully, now we can co-exist amiably... and not harsh in issuing judgements...

It was nice teaching you, guys.... i hope i was a good, if not better or best instrument of learning...

LEARNING FEEDBACK DIARY

I. Objectives

General: To be able to assess patient's condition with communicable and infectious diseases.

Specific: To give quality care to patient's with infectious and communicable diseases

To observed and tried handling patient's with infectious and communicable diseases

To exercised and strengthen our emotional and physical weaknesses in handling such cases

II. Observations:

Self: It has been a long time since I had been imagining my duty at San Lazaro. I am glad and finally we had our duty at Manila. I was so excited and felt a little bit of nervousness when we had our first duty at San Lazaro but since i have to overcome those fears and nervousness i tried my best and give my best shot in order for me to be good.

Groupmates: Same as i feel, they are all nervous and excited too, since it was our first time to have our duty at Manila. I can say that the group was good. They all help each and everyone do their own responsibilities as a student nurse.

CI: I am glad and thankful to my Clinical Instructor for the support and guidance all throughout the duty. She is an extraordinary CI for me. I learned a lot and i enjoy being with her for 1 week at San Lazaro Hospital.

III. Learnings: At the first day of our duty we held an orientation first; with us are different schools from different places. They discuss some of the policies and information regarding about San Lazaro.Wherein we will be exposing at the different Ward with different infectious and communicable diseases.
Then the next and succeeding days we start to have our duty proper. My duty starts at the Pedia Ward, my patient at that day is having a diagnosis of Pneumonia with Hydrothorax. In that, I learned how to assess my patients condition, I also use my communication skills and proper interventions that my client needs.

The next day we had our duty at the Emergency Room. I observed the work of an ER nurse and as well as the doctors. At the ER I found out that you need to be good in assessing client and must work fast as you can.You need to be alert and knowledgable.

We learned a lot with those significant experiences that we had encountered. There may be mistakes and errors sometimes but let’s take them positive, as a part of human existence. It is not easy to become a nurse actually; nurses handle lives of many people.A nurse need to be alert, smart and must learn and take responsibilities as well. I wish that my group mates enjoyed the whole San Lazaro duty and I am very much sure they have absorbed the necessary knowledge, skills, attitude and values a student nurse should have. I believed we all strived hard.We went through lots of activities and challenges that somehow contributed to our holistic growth and development for our studies.
San Lazaro duty were of course very exciting, worth capturing and recording in our thoughts and all memories and experiences we had was very memorable. I am glad and thankful to my Clinical Instructor for the support and guidance all throughout the duty and to my group mates as well. It’s signing off again, I mean time for us to end our affiliation duty, very fruitful year and hope everyone enjoyed. =)
