WELCOME BSN 2010 TO THE WORLD OF ICT.

You have dreamt of becoming a nurse someday. Nursing is not an easy course. You can not pass it just by playing or fooling around. You have to exert much effort, read and study hard. You will be spending close to 500T before you graduate in March 2010. Remember to always pray and ask for God's protection and love. Nothing is impossible with God.

The SOMERA CASE is a very popular case in the nursing world. It is the first criminal case filed against a registered nurse here in the Philippines.

Using the Internet, look for the SOMERA CASE and read it. Then answer the following questions:

1. Who were the persons involve in the case?

2. In your own words, relate what happened.

3. Identify the errors committed by the persons involve in the case.

4. If you were in the place of Miss Somera, how would you act in the situation @ hand?

5. If faced with the same situation, what would you do in order to defend yourself?

4A Take Home Exam

1. Explain exhaustively the role of the Nurse Manager as an Organizer, a Director, and a Controller.

2. What are the Leadership styles according to Kurt Lewin? Then choose a Nurse Manager (except me, please) whom you have observed this 2nd semester (it could be a Chief Nurse, Supervisor, Staff Nurse, CI, Dean, Coordinator) and describe which leadership style do you think is used by your chosen nurse manager. Explain why you think it is the style used. Moreover, identify the good and bad points of the leadership style selected.

3. Using description, write at least two (2) simple paragraphs telling how your work and attitude get affected by your supervisor's (or immediate superior's) style of leadership.

4. Site true-to-life situations where good management is very evident. IDentify its good and bad points. Simultaneously, site a true-to-life situation where mismanagement is also evident. What are the effects of mismanagement?
